7. Cream reached their peak early with Disraeli Gears, but it’s follow-up Wheels of Fire is still a unique piece in their discography. More ambitious than its predecessor, it is a double album, one half being studio tracks and the other live ones. Obviously, there is a lot of material to offer, but this also results in some slight inconsistencies.

8. This is followed by Ginger Baker's "Toad" which starts off OK before entering into a self-indulgent drum solo, lasting the best part of 16 minutes. Overall, I would say Disraeli Gears is the stronger album but Wheels Of Fire may be the album that best documents the true nature of Cream.

9. Apr 07,  · As good as their previous LP was, "Disraeli Gears", "Wheels of Fire" feels like the true culmination of the individual members' influences. Seven of the nine studio tracks are original (written with their respective writing partners) and yes, there are rock anthems like "White Room" and "Those Were The Days", and blues based songs such as "Politician" along with their covers of "Sitting On Top /5().
